FEATURED LABS

The following Labs are special dogs that have been rescued by Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc.

Abner
Hi Everybody, my name is Abner, yea like Lil Abner but I'm not little I weigh 109lbs. I am a five-year-old male who likes to roll around in the grass and lay on the couch, when my foster sister is bugging me. I just found out that I have severe hip dysplasia and I need your help. I need to have surgery on both my hips, Dr Margaret at Animal Hospital of Streamwood has been making sure that I'm on medicine for the pain. I also just meet Ron at A+ Pet Massage and Swimming in Wood Dale where he has been giving me treatments. He has agreed to continue my treatments at half price for the rest of my days. Thanks, Ron! My foster family saved me from being put to sleep and they are treating me very nice by taking me on walks and giving me all of the love I need. If you could help me by donating to Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue that would really help me get the surgery that I need. Thank you, Abner.

Jones ADOPTED!
My name is Jones and I am 1 year old and full of life. I know it is hard to tell from this picture but my teeth are so white that I may be accused of using a whitener. I weigh about 55 lbs so I am light on my feet and a very happy boy. I love walks with 10 year old Misty, who lives here and the neighbors’ one year old yellow lab. We all get along so well. It’s too bad my cat foster brothers, Charlie and Jack can’t come on our walks. They don’t bother me at all except when they get too close to my chewing bones. I love the backyard. I have been a very quiet guest here except when left alone. I get a little upset and whimper and bark but I eventually settle down. I have been lucky that I have not had to stay in a cage since the first night here. I stay in the kitchen with doggy gates and have no interest in other parts of the house while I am in there. There are no kids here but the ones I have met on my walks are not a problem. I am happy to meet them. Jones is a very special black lab mix who would love to find his forever family, but he has been hit with some tough news. Jones needs surgery on both of his hips, specifically called a femoral head excision.

Petra ADOPTED!
Hi! My name is Petra and I’m a 3-4 year-old (a lady never reveals her true age) Chocolate female looking for my forever home. Being from Tennessee, I’m a calm and genteel lady. You can also see that I’m a fan of good old country cooking. I am a pleasingly plump 75 lbs, but I know that my waistline needs to be trimmed down a bit so I’ll need your help with that. My foster mom tells me that I need to go to polishing school – I believe you Northerns call it Obedience Training. I walk well on a leash and I learned how to sit but I’m not quite sure what it means to “give paw”, “shake”, “come” or “stay”. I assure you I’m a willing student. I’ve also made a friend really quickly – his name is Mr. Hedge Hog, but I just call him Hedge. I like carrying him around all the time – I’ve even brought him on walks and car rides with me. Apparently, the toy known as “The Cat” isn’t one that likes to be carried around, although I tried a few times before my foster mom decided to keep the two of us separated. Because of that, I should go to a family without cats or small dogs. Sadly, my foster mom noticed that I was limping when I got here. The vet told her I had a torn cruciate in my knee which requires surgery to fix. The great people here at MLRR will have that done before placing me with my forever family. Once my knee is fixed, I’ll be good as new and ready to meet you. Is it okay if I bring Hedge, too?
