Meeko
Meeko loves to cuddle, play with a frisbee or a ball , go for a run, or just to be with her favorite person. She needs a new home because my work and travel situation has changed. I got her 2 years ago as a puppy thru a friend. She has been loved, well handled, and well socialized She is the sweetest thing in the world and will do anything to please her owner. She follows basic obedience hand gestures (sit, lay, stay, etc). She is easily trainable and thrives on praise and affection. She is house trained and gets along with other dogs. She can handle stairs and is a very quiet child.

Cooper
Hi! I'm Cooper, and I need a loving, forever home. If you are looking for a sweet, cuddly and easy-going Chocolate Lab about 8 years old, look no further! Here is what I can offer you in return: I promise to enjoy all of my new brothers and sisters, including dogs, cats, and children. In fact, I love everyone in my foster family.

I promise not to pull on the leash when you walk me, and I even respond to the command 'heel'. Speaking of walking, if you like some morning exercise, we are a great match - we can get out and have a leisurely walk, and then I'm ready to hang-out or cuddle. Speaking of cuddling, I promise to crawl into your lap if you get down on the floor, or just put my head in your lap and stare at you (come on, you love that don't you?), or lay on your feet and keep your toes warm (this is Chicago, after all). I promise to eat any/all surplus rawhide bones that are cluttering your house - peanut butter and vanilla flavors are my current favorites, but I'll take anything.

I promise to do the following when given appropriate commands: "sit", "stay", "come", "down", "give paw", "bed", and "crate". When I have a loving family, I am very motivated to please! I even respond to "no"!

I promise to keep my scratching to a minimum, as long as you feed me the right diet for my allergies, and give me my daily medication :) Fish oil and glucosamine are welcome too, since they'll keep me active in my golden years!

I promise to tap my foot whenever you scratch my side. I love that!

Even though I was abandoned and almost euthanized in a kill shelter, I haven't stopped believing in finding a loving family again. I am getting tons of love and attention in my foster home, but I dream of finding my own family. I am available for adoption from Windy City Animal Foundation, a 501c3, licensed rescue. If you email about me, they can send you my application and we can meet. Come and meet me, and I just know we're going to fall in love!

Thanks,
Sarah Holmberg

Bella
We need a good home for a sweet, gentle 10 year old black lab named Bella. Bella is spayed & up to date on all her vaccinations. She does have a tumor on her tail, the vet is not worried and it is not troublesome. She was x-rayed as a puppy, and they said that she would not have hip dysplasia. She's extremely good with children, cats, rabbits, other dogs, etc. She's never been aggressive or even growled. She's very submissive. She rarely barks. She will bark if a strange person comes to the door, but that is usually the only reason. She is well trained and very obedient. She's the kind of dog where you could leave a steak on the counter, leave the house, come back hours later, and it would be untouched. She doesn't beg. She doesn't jump on people. She's very affectionate. She is not an outdoor dog but is happy to go on walks or runs with you. She's very flexible about bathroom, eating, and sleeping times. My daughter entered her in the county fair and won Grand Champion for dog care with her the last two summers.

She's almost the perfect dog. However, she does have a vast array of sound sensitivities. She gets extremely anxious with thunderstorms, firecrackers, gun shots, (including these sounds on TV), and chipmunks "chipping." Other sounds such as applause, whistles, doorbells, and high pitched alarms also really bother her. She does not like our Wii unless the volume is off completely. She tries to flee scary sounds and storms, and may cause damage if alone under those circumstances. Chipping chipmunks are her biggest problem, causing her so much anxiety that she lost 30 lbs. last year. This is why we need to find her a new home. She cannot afford to loose any more weight. She comes with a vast array of free dog supplies. She is free to a good home.

Thanks,
Sarah Holmberg

Jackson
Meet Jackson!
He is a very energetic neutered male Lab. He was born November 1, 2001. I have had him since a puppy. Jack had always been around his "sister", Lady (a German shepherd), but she died last summer. This left him with a touch of separation anxiety. He loves to follow his favorite person from room to room. I am trying to find a great home for him with someone that is always home, works from home or even retired. He loves playing frisbee and swimming in his pool Watch on YouTube. Unfortunately, he does not like other dogs (he was attacked on a walk at a very young age and that made him anxious around other dogs) so he must be the only dog in the house. I love Jack very much, but I am moving and he cannot make the move with me. He is current on vaccinations and Heartgard and Frontline Plus is being administered monthly.

Pilsner ADOPTED!
Pilsner is a fun, family friendly dog. He is a 6 year old purebred with a fun birthday on New Years Eve! He lived with us in the city and now enjoys the room and yard in the suburbs. He is happy to see you and very used to being around many people. After greeting you he is content to chill and relax his way through the day. He eats twice a day and goes in the yard three times a day. He is not over active or in need of long walks or runs.

Hoover ADOPTED!
HOOVER is a 2 year old purebred Labrador Retriever who really needs a home environment, He is not doing well in the shelter environment. He is a very active boy who needs some training, He loves to play ball and would be a great agility or jogging companion. Delilah ADOPTED!
We hate to give her up! Delilah (Lila, for short) needs a new home. Our work/travel situations have changed, our kids have moved out, and she's by herself way too much - no life for a loving Lab. We got her 4 1/2 years ago from a Lab rescue organization (not Midwest Lab Rescue) when they thought she was 2 years old, so she may be 6 or 7. She is spayed, house trained and has basic obedience training. She is medium sized for a Lab, about 75 pounds. She LOVES people, walks, being petted, and brushed. She is affectionate and very sweet. She is NOT good with other dogs. We don't know what happened to her in the shelter, but it had a negative impact with other dogs. If you have another dog, this won't work, but she does like cats! Arujna ADOPTED!
Arujna, (nick named-'Roonie),I am named after an Indian prince. I am a fun loving 5 year old full lab that was adopted from a farm. I now live in a home with two other dogs, and an active three year old boy. My favorite activity is fetching balls, but my owner doesn't have time to play with me as much as I would like. I love to run, and even though I go out on a leash, I love my owner so much I pretty much stay with her no matter where she is. I am a little shy when it comes to meeting new people, but once I get to know them, I either let them go about their business or play with them. The other two dogs in my home have taught me some interesting games. My other nickname is TANK, because when I play I have my nose to the ground and push through anything in my way to get where I am going. I am crated during the day because my owner is gone for too long a time during the day. This is another reason she is looking for a new home for me. I am so affectionate, I love sitting on her feet. I can sit next to you, or play with you, but most of all I will love you no matter what.

Abby ADOPTED!
Hi! I'm Abby! I'm a 5 year old female (spayed). I'm looking for a home with a big back yard and people to play with. I have so much energy that I sometimes don't know what to do with it all. I would have to say that my favorite thing to do is explore. I get stuck in places like closets a lot because I just follow my nose and don't realize that I'm 75 lbs. I also like playing fetch and being chased around, unfortunately my owner doesn't have the time to give me the tons of attention I need. We also don't have much of a yard which makes it hard to run around. I get along well with other animals. There is a German Shepard living with me right now and we go on walks together. There is also a cat who likes to play with me, but she is faster than me so I mostly just sniff her. I have food alergies so I have to be on an organic diet. I am crate trained and I end up spending a lot of time in my crate because my owners are gone most of the day I love meeting new people so please see if you can give me the home of my dreams!
